NOTE: I DO NOT ENDORSE EXTREMIST IDEOLOGIES
A couple of years ago I was given the opportunity to work as a CG artist for a rather weird political satirist named Greg Guevara (supposedly there's no relation to Che Guevara). His satire of the modern political landscape is quite absurd. I don't completely understand it myself as I'm not a very political person. However, the comedy in his series was fascinating to me, so I accepted the opportunity to edit his cheesy green screen characters into these CG environments. Soon after making some basic backgrounds for him, I became his editor for a number of projects. Not long after we started working, he asked me to be the director of the final episodes in his short film series called "Centricide."
The series is a parody of political extremism/centrism. The characters are a communist named Commie, a capitalist named Ancap, an anarchist named Ancom, a Nazi named Nazi... so on and so forth. These main characters, the extremists, team up to try and defeat the "centrists" (people with beliefs considered socially acceptable) in a war called the Centricide. The irony of the story is that the characters just became friends after the Centricide ends. They returned to their lives in a way that didn't change the status quo, which was the whole purpose of starting the war in the first place.
Greg was fun to work with. His strangest attribute was that he always wanted to make it easier to work on the project. He'd tell me that some shots "look too good, make them look worse." In the end, the result was very cheesy, but Greg was very satisfied with it. I suppose that's all that matters!
